Biography: Martin Field has been a long-term advocate, practitioner, and resident of community-led housing initiatives. Following 20 years of public sector roles at district, city and regional levels and with housing associations, engaging with local government and community delivery of housing, planning and urban design services, he then held academic positions in Leicester and Northampton. He is currently employed within the regional Community-Led Housing ‘Hub’ based in the East Midlands. His latest publication (2020) from Policy Press is “Creating Community-Led and Self-Build Homes – a guide to collaborative practice in the UK.

In being an active member of UK research networks on housing and neighbourhood initiatives, he has been a Board Director of the Community Self Build Agency, the UK Cohousing Network, the Confederation of Co-operative Housing, and a member of the Carnegie Trust Working Group that established the National CLT Network.

He is also currently a part-time Parish Clerk in the East Midlands.
