Biography: I was a registered architect in London, Yorkshire and Bristol for 40 years from 1976 until 2016.  During that time I ran my own practice Plan Shop Architects in North Yorkshire, worked in Africa in the international disaster relief industry after the genocide in Rwanda and worked as a community business adviser for the Lancashire Co-operative Development Agency.  Between 2001 and 2006 I ran my own regeneration consultancy Insight 02 with three partners from Preston.  In Bentham, my home town in Yorkshire, I founded a development trust, a community newspaper Bentham News (still running after 34 years), a community nightclub Off the Wall and a housing co-operative Tweed Street Housing Co-op.

In 2005 I moved to Bristol and in 2011 was a founder member of Bristol CLT, of which I was chair from 2011 until March 2020. During this time I steered the organisation through its first development of 12 houses and the design of its second project. I helped to found the South West region CLH Hub Community Led Homes West.  I became an accredited Community Led Housing Enabler in 2020.

I am currently a director of Stokes Croft Land Trust, Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft CIC and Wernbrake Woodland Ltd (a community woodland project).
